Mental Health First Aid
At NEMAT Support Services we deliver:
- Bespoke Continuing Professional Development (CPD) training to adults on subject areas surrounding mental health in children and young people.
- One- and two-day MHFA courses examining the signs and symptoms of mental health issues experienced by children and young people.
- PSHE lessons/school assemblies on topics relating to students’ mental health and emotional wellbeing.
NEMAT Support Services offer tailor-made CPD training on specific mental health topics such as ‘mental health awareness’, ‘self-harm’, ‘the importance of positive wellbeing’ and similar issues. We can tailor the training to meet the timetable and needs’ of your school or organisation.
Youth Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) courses
The MHFA courses enable attendees to identify the early warning signs of mental health issues in children and young people. The courses also advise on how affected individuals can be guided towards getting professional help.
The Youth MHFA courses can be delivered either as a one-day or separate two-day course.
Our one-day course addresses the most common mental health issues facing young people. These include depression, anxiety, suicide, psychosis, self-harm and eating disorders.
We also offer a more detailed course that qualifies attendees as a Youth Mental Health First Aider. This is designed as a two-day programme, but its modular nature means it can be delivered flexibly to fit the needs of your school or organisation.
Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) Lessons/School Assemblies
We believe PSHE education is a crucial way to provide students with the knowledge and skills to assess, value and maintain their own emotional wellbeing, as well as a means of building awareness of mental health issues generally.
NEMAT Support Services delivers mental health and emotional wellbeing workshops on topics such as: coping with exams; identifying anxiety; the importance of respectful relationship and positive friendships; and building aspirations. Tailor-made presentations can also be arranged to fit the needs of your school or organisation.
